“Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.”
– Isaiah 54:2 NIV
Our vision
statement
For This City is a Next Generation ministry set up to advance God’s kingdom and empower local youth ministries.
We exist to create environments where young people can hear the gospel, encounter God, witness the unity of the Church, and are activated to advance God’s kingdom. We’re is all about seeing a new generation won for Christ and planted in local youth ministries.
We exist to strengthen local youth ministries, build unity in the Church, and create spaces of community and training for youth pastors and leaders. We’re not about a single denomination or style of church, but about leaders from different backgrounds coming together with the same goal: to see God’s kingdom advance.
We believe that thousands of young people will hear the gospel and be saved, and youth ministries will be strengthened and supported.
Who we are
Through evangelical gospel-centred youth events, and consistent support for youth pastors and teams, For This City is a movement that...
- declares the Gospel to a new generation.
- sees many young people saved.
- sees young people filled with the power and presence of God.
- unites and empowers the local Church.
- brings together youth pastors to support and build the Church together.
- equips and empowers young people to advance the kingdom of God in their world.
Our story
For This City began as a combined youth service in Wellington, in September 2023, run by a small group of youth pastors who had connected and become friends. It became very clear that we shared the same passion for the city, and the same vision to see God’s kingdom advance in Wellington.
After running the first For This City, we were unanimous that it wasn’t going to be a one-off event.
Since then, we have seen God do more that we could have imagined. For This City now runs quarterly youth rallies in Wellington. We have seen attendance double, seen hundreds make decisions for Christ and plugged into local churches, and a great sense of unity amongst youth ministries.
We felt prompted to set up For This City as its own independent organisation with its own charitable trust. We felt it was important to be seperate from one type or brand of church because the heart of this is about building and strengthening all churches from all denominations.
In 2024, we saw God open doors in the cities of Christchurch and Dunedin, where we were able to come alongside local youth pastors to launch For This City in those cities for their teenagers.
